China finds flawed designer clothes

Many retailers in China have discovered that many clothing belonging to designer labels are made poorly or wrongly labeled. The designer labels in question are Dolce and Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Versace and Hermes. China's Zhejiang Commerce bureau, said they have collected items from various department stores from the richest cities in China and found out that 60% of the clothing was poorly made.

The inspectors also found that many items contained high levels of acid and formaldehyde which "could have caused skin rashes, eye irritations, allergies, respiratory problems and even cancer." The clothes inspected were not made in China, but in Turkey, Italy, France, India and Vietnam.

The Chinese officials are not taking this incident lightly, as they are starting to fine retailers selling these low quality goods and also forcing the shops to remove them. However, China will not be fining the designer labels because they are not Chinese businesses. The question is, have these tainted goods been sent to any other destinations around the globe or only China? And how will people be reacting to the fact they are buying designer clothes, which are premium articles, and receiving a very low quality good in return.
